Redwood Shores Family Portraits | Manzi & Tien Families

Last week I met up with two wonderful families, the Manzi and Tien families, in Redwood Shores for some reunion photos.  There was also a lot to celebrate as there were two college graduates and one high school graduate who were ready to embark on the next journey of their lives.

The Shores is a nice, tranquil community within Redwood City, and the weather that day was just right (minus the strong wind at times).  

San Mateo Japanese Tea Garden Family Photography | Camdyn & Cousins

For Camdyn's last session, her cousins were in town so Camdyn's mom had a great idea to put them together to get a few fun shots at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Mateo.  They were so cute together.  The last time I saw Ethan he was still a baby, and I was so glad to have finally met Katelyn and Emily.  It's amazing how fast kids grow.  Camdyn is also growing up.  At her previous session she didn't have any teeth yet and now she has a few in the front and sitting up really well.

I'm always grateful when clients contact me again for portraits.  Back in November I did a family session for Emily and her family in Palo Alto.  Emily wanted to get some updated portraits to use for her business and other projects so we met up on a beautiful Sunday in Milpitas.  City halls can be nice places for portraits because of their beautiful architecture, and the Milpitas City Hall is no exception.  I loved the modern look of the place with its large windows, stairs, and colors.

San Mateo Central Park and Downtown Portrait Photography | Sylvia

Sylvia and I go way back to when we were just kids.  As cousins, we were inseparable whenever together.  We'll have sleepovers at each other's houses and stay up late to bake, play games, or watch t.v.  When it came time for me to choose my maid of honor, she was the clear choice.  To this day Sylvia continues to be an avid baker, even doing freelance work by making her fabulous confections for events and parties.  You can follow her work at Did You Eat Yet?

Originally, I wanted to do some portraits at San Mateo's Central Park, but once we got there we realized that the place closes at 4:00.  Oops!  We ended up shooting around the park for a bit before walking over to the downtown area for some shots.

Foster City Portrait Photography | Kimmy

For my mentoring session with Chung of Chung Li Photography he chose a location in Foster City that allowed us to do some shots indoors and some outdoors.  You can tell Chung is a master of his craft because he was very technical and meticulous about everything, from the background and the lighting on the person's face to posing the subject so that he/she looks as photogenic and natural as possible.  There were a lot of details that can certainly make a big difference when done right.

I first met Kimmy through her husband Garrett who I've known since middle school.  Later, I discovered that Kimmy does freelance hair and makeup for weddings and events so we connected with each other.  She also teaches figure skating at Ice Center at Cupertino, which was where I spent a lot of my time training when I used to skate.  Thanks again Kimmy for a great session!

Sneak Peek Foster City Portrait Photography | Kimmy

After work last Friday I met up with Chung from Chung Li Photography for a mentoring session, and Kimmy was kind enough to be our model.  It was a beautiful day, and the lighting was absolutely gorgeous.  If you ever need your hair and makeup done for weddings or special occasions, Kimmy does freelance work in those areas.

A few days ago I made a post with some sneak peek photos of the portrait session we did of the guys from Homestead High School. Here are a couple more from last Saturday's session at the Presidio. We all met in high school through a club called FBLA. It's great to see the guys still enjoying themselves and creating lots of laughs years after high school. They were always a fun group of people, and certainly, I had some good laughs myself while shooting.
